Hardware Stores

What is one of the first things a Robotics team needs to do when it gets to its regional competition? Locate the nearest hardware store or Home Depot! Here’s a listing of hardware stores and a Home Depot within four miles of Williams Arena.

Home Depot

1520 New Brighton Blvd., Minneapolis. 612-782-9594
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 6 AM to 10 PM; Sunday 7 AM to 8 PM

From Williams Arena
Proceed west on Oak Street SE, which turns into SE 4th St. Continue on SE 4th St. past SE 10th Ave., to 35W – Northbound. 
Take Johnson Street Exit 21-B.
Stay straight onto Johnson Street.
At the stoplight, take first right-hand turn into the Home Depot Parking Lot.

To return to Williams Arena
At stoplight out of Home Depot parking lot, turn left onto 35W – Southbound.
All traffic must exit at University/SE 4th Street.
Proceed straight at first stoplight
Turn left at the second set of stoplights onto University Avenue SE and head east a few blocks to campus. Williams Arena is on the left hand side of University Ave., and parking is across the street.

 

Welna II Hardware (Seward neighborhood)

Hours: Wednesday and Thursday, 8 AM to 7 PM; Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM; Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM

From Williams Arena
Leaving Williams Arena, turn Right onto Oak Street SE
Turn left at East River Parkway (cross over Mississippi River)
Turn Right at SE Franklin Ave.
The hardware store is located at the corner of 22nd Ave S. and Franklin.

Welna Ace Hardware

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 7 PM; Friday, 8 AM to 5:30 PM; Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Head south on Oak St. SE and turn right on SE Washington Ave. Follow Washington Ave. to the Hiawatha Ave./I-35W/MN 55 Ramp.
Merge onto Hiawatha Ave./MN 55 East
Take the Cedar Avenue Ramp; turn right onto Cedar Ave.
Turn Right onto East 24th Street
Turn Left onto Bloomington Ave. South

Frattollone’s Ace Hardware

Between East 18th and East 19th Street.
Hours: Wednesday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 8 PM; Saturday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM

From Franklin Ave (see above directions to Welna II), continue West on Franklin to Nicollet.
Turn Right onto Nicollet. Located between East 18th and East 19th Street, Frattollone’s is inside a small shopping mall. There is an entrance from the parking lot as well as an entrance on Nicollet.
